Define your role and scope

Separate research and administrative assistance from legal advice or representation. A client’s permission to communicate does not automatically authorize you to appear in court, sign a claim, or receive the client’s money.

Explain deliverables, fees, outside costs, cancellation terms, and any professional referrals clearly. Use jurisdiction-specific agreements reviewed by a qualified attorney rather than assuming a general template applies everywhere.

Put it into practice

List what your service does, what it does not do, and when you will refer a matter.

Use the official resource library to verify the process for your jurisdiction.
