FREE INTRODUCTORY READING

Start with the official custodian

Begin with the clerk, sheriff, tax office, or state unclaimed-property program that actually holds the funds. A third-party lead list should point you back to an official record.

Record the sale or case number, parcel identifier, source URL, and date of the listing. Check whether the balance has changed or the money has moved to another custodian. Keep tax-deed and foreclosure records separate.

Put it into practice

Use the Florida forms hub to locate your county’s official starting point.

Use the official resource library to verify the process for your jurisdiction.

OFFICIAL SOURCES
